Express Urgent Care is a walk-in urgent care about ten minutes from Ferguson, west on Airport Road toward Lambert. Every visit is a walk-in, Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Cuts are cleaned, closed and dressed in the same visit, with tetanus covered.
Ferguson runs along West Florissant and Airport Road. It is close enough to Lambert that aircraft are part of the background noise. It is far enough from any hospital that same-day care means a drive. The city covers about six square miles. It has a strong sense of its own downtown, with the Farmers Market and the shops on South Florissant. Its population leans toward households where nobody can lose half a day sitting in an emergency department waiting room. We are roughly four miles southwest. The practical draw is simple. You are seen the same day, and you are not billed like a hospital.
Which illnesses and injuries can urgent care handle?
If it needs attention today but is not an emergency, we see it. For illness, that covers colds and influenza, sore throat and strep, and ear and sinus infections. It covers bronchitis and persistent cough, fever, and stomach upset and dehydration. We see urinary symptoms, rashes and allergic reactions, and asthma flare-ups as well. The injuries we treat include sprains and strains, suspected fractures, dislocations and cuts needing closure. Minor burns, abrasions, animal bites and insect stings, sports injuries and head injuries are covered as well. Our other services include physicals, vaccinations, confidential STI testing, occupational medicine and an on-site infusion suite.
Do you have X-ray and a lab in the building?
Most urgent care visits become two appointments because the clinic cannot run the test. We can run it. Digital X-ray is on site and gets read during your visit. So before you leave, a suspected fracture is confirmed or ruled out. Splinting or bracing happens the same day. Our laboratory covers strep, influenza, COVID-19, mononucleosis, urinalysis, pregnancy testing and blood panels. Most of those results come back inside the visit. The rest come back within a few days. For cases that need them, ultrasound and CT are available.
How long is the drive from Ferguson?
From Ferguson, Airport Road west toward Lambert is the most direct line. Or, if you are starting nearer West Florissant, take Interstate 170 south to I-70 west. Either is about ten minutes. Parking is free and right outside the entrance. If you are coming from the north side of Ferguson toward Dellwood, try the Lindbergh route through Berkeley. At school-run times, it is often clearer than the interstate.
When is it an emergency-room problem instead?
This is an urgent care center, not an emergency department. The difference matters. Call 911 or go to an emergency room for chest pain, difficulty breathing, signs of stroke, severe or uncontrolled bleeding, a serious head injury with loss of consciousness or worsening symptoms, severe abdominal pain, a major burn, a severe allergic reaction, pregnancy complications, or any injury involving exposed bone. What a walk-in visit actually looks like
Come in without an appointment and sign in at the front desk. Bring a photo ID and a list of the medicines you take, plus your insurance card if you have one. For a child, a parent or guardian needs to be there to sign. We triage in the order you arrive, adjusted for how sick people are. That is why a chest complaint will move ahead of a form that needs signing. A clinician takes your history, examines you, and orders whatever testing the problem needs. Our laboratory and X-ray suite are in the building. Because of that, testing generally happens while you wait instead of becoming a second appointment. When you leave, you have a diagnosis where one can be made and a treatment plan. Any prescription has been sent to your pharmacy. Do you see patients without insurance?
We take most major insurance plans. We also see self-pay patients. Bring whatever coverage you have. Before anything is done, the front desk will tell you where you stand. You can request a Good Faith Estimate if you would like the cost in writing beforehand. We are not here to replace your regular doctor. Where you have one, we send a visit summary, so your own physician knows what happened and what was prescribed. Where you do not have one, we will be honest about whether this needs ongoing care. We will help you find that care. If the problem turns out to be outside urgent care, we tell you. We send you to the right place rather than treating around the edges of it. Language assistance is available at no charge. The clinic is wheelchair accessible throughout.
