St. Ann is our nearest neighbor of any size, under two miles west. It is close enough that the airport is a shared fact of daily life rather than a landmark. Can urgent care do X-rays and blood work?
Here is why most urgent care visits turn into two appointments: the clinic cannot run the test. Here, we can. Digital X-ray is on site and read during your visit. So you know before you leave whether a suspected fracture is confirmed or ruled out. Splinting or bracing is done the same day. Our laboratory does strep, influenza, COVID-19 and mononucleosis tests. It also does urinalysis, pregnancy testing and blood panels. Most results come back during the visit, and the rest within a few days. Ultrasound and CT are available for the cases that need them.
How close is urgent care to St. Ann?
Take St. Charles Rock Road east and turn toward Woodson. You will be at the door in three or four minutes. From the southern end of St. Ann, near the Rock Road and Ashby intersection, it is barely longer. There is free surface parking right outside. Being this close also makes the on-site laboratory and X-ray work like neighborhood facilities. The test and the result happen in one short trip rather than two.
When should I skip urgent care and go to the ER?
We are an urgent care center. An emergency department is something else, and the difference matters. Call 911 or go to an emergency room for chest pain, difficulty breathing, signs of stroke, severe or uncontrolled bleeding, a serious head injury with loss of consciousness or worsening symptoms, severe abdominal pain, a major burn, a severe allergic reaction, pregnancy complications, or any injury involving exposed bone. If it falls short of that, urgent care is faster. It also costs a fraction of what an emergency department charges for the same complaint. What a walk-in visit actually looks like
Arrive without an appointment and check in at the front desk. Bring a photo ID, a list of the medicines you take, and your insurance card if you have one. When the patient is a child, a parent or guardian needs to be there to sign. Patients are triaged in the order they arrive, adjusted for how sick people are. So a chest complaint will move ahead of a form that needs signing. A clinician gathers your history, examines you, and orders whatever testing the problem calls for. That testing generally happens while you wait. That is because the laboratory and the X-ray suite are in the building. It does not become a second appointment. Before you leave, you get a diagnosis where one can be made and a treatment plan. Any prescription is sent to your pharmacy. Does urgent care take insurance?
We accept most major insurance plans, and self-pay patients are seen as well. Bring whatever coverage you have. Then the front desk tells you where you stand before anything is done. If you want the cost in writing first, you can request a Good Faith Estimate. We are not trying to replace your regular doctor. If you do have one, we send a visit summary.
